My wife’s a member and also a Colonial Dame. (For what little it’s worth, I’m a Kentucky Colonel.)
The DAR isn’t a particularly activist group, so my wife (like most members, probably) hasn’t even heard of this controversy.
My wife and I are not members, but she sets up historical displays and gives lectures and we do presentations for the DAR frequently including association meetings where people come from all across the country. I agree that most members do not seem particularly political and many likely have any no idea that there is even a controversy.
