Why would you badger someone going through the stress of terminal cancer with this. Yeah, it may eventually need to be done, but 11 calls in a row to someone obviously having a difficult time dealing with a very desperate situation?

My thought in reading that was that there are all kinds of sickness and not all are as visible as cancer. Decades ago, John might have been in line for some Thorazine.
My own Mom repeats herself on the phone, all the time, now. Aging does not go smoothly for everyone.
He sounds like a real azzhole.
Because it is important not to leave your survivors in a lurch.
