We still do not really know all the facts in this case.

when I was in school I had a knife with me every day.

The school had a rule that we could not have switchblades with a blade over 3 inches long.

and yes we also had gun racks in our pickups with .22 hanging on them.

One of my older brothers took a switchblade to high school in his sock. He was pretty scrawny (still is), and the schools were just then being integrated, with forced bussing. We were new to the area, so he was really happy when he made friends with some bigger guys with more muscles and stature than he had. I never heard of anyone getting more than a few cuts or bruises from the fights that were somewhat common back then.
