Right...how long will VW hold their inventory at US ports? Not long, methinks.

They should pay to ship them back where they came from. Perma ban those VINs going forward
i dont think its cheap
as for the import fee
i think customers would say i aint paying that
I know cars aren’t shipped in containers, but the container fee, which could theoretically hold two cars, last I checked was $5600. So back of the envelope, they spent roughly three thousand getting the car here and roughly three thousand taking it back. It’s a US spec car that probably can’t be sold in Europe which means taking a more expensive US spec car to a country that doesn’t require those specs and therefore it will be overpriced as is. Plus, it would cost possibly six thousand total in shipping. Their only move is to go ahead and distribute it and see if it sells.
They’ll likely have to offer a discount probably equal to at least one shipping fee of three thousand.
Frankly, I’ve bought my last car until the ridiculous tech is gone. My next truck will have been built between about 1995 and 2005. No internet. Hard wired lights and electronics and no eclectic can bus*. *The way cars are currently wired is like your computers at work.

Charge them $20k per day per vehicle to store them.
Oh, about 50 days I think !
They currently have a 79 day supply. So they can wait 50 days til they reach a 30 day supply before delivering/paying the tariff.
They may be able to work something out before that.
