my paternal grandfather's home towns of Slonim, which might not exist anymore

Both of my maternal grandparents were born in Slonim as well. It does still exist as a town in Belarus.

Odd thing, my grandfather's birth certificate said in translation that he was born in Slonim, Poland. In the late 19th Century, when he was born, Poland did not officially exist, and anyway, Slonim is defintely part of Belarus, not Poland, in the middle fork of those three rivers.
