Tucker Carlson caused a stir in a recent interview that may cause some Americans to do a double take on the vehicles they are driving.
During an interview with automotive designer and internet personality Casey Putsch last week, Tucker mentioned that he is a lifelong fan of Chevrolet trucks but felt he had to “immediately” sell his latest one after spotting a disturbing message on the car’s dashboard.
“I bought a truck last year…A Chevy truck, which I’ve always had, and I was at a gas station, he said. “And all of a sudden at a gas station, it says, ‘Stop, we’re downloading information from the internet.'”
“While you were driving?” Putsch asked.
“No, I was stopped,” Tucker replied. “I sold the car immediately. I brought it back and sold it.”
“They want all your data to provide to insurance companies to wreck your life, I’m sure,” Putsch responded.
...
Tucker last year bought his 1987 Chevy Silverado and revealed the car’s lack of technology was a prime appealing factor to him:
“There are no electronics in this. There’s no air conditioning, there’s no radio, and there’s no way for the government to turn off my engine if I’m disobedient,” he said at the time.
“So that’s what I drive. I like it.”
My '68 Dodge Power Wagon has him beat cold. With a spare set of diodes it's EMP proof.
Good move the new Chevies are ugly and crap anyway.
I keep a 98 Sierra just in case. My newer vehicles you never know what they’re doing. They yell at me if I cross a white line and vibrate the steering wheel. Because that’s safe. Insanity. I hate when a machine pretends to be smarter than the operator.
Yup. Talked to a fellow just a week or so ago that told us a similar thing happened to him.
Never said which brand of vehicle but, its now sitting someplace where they intend on getting rid of it.
👍😂🚀💣
I had an old Escape that I thought would last me forever. No bells and whistles on it. Even got a new paint job for it and a new tune up...
Then I hit a pothole. The rest is history.
“I hate when a machine pretends to be smarter than the operator.”
Some operators aren’t very smart.
” ... it says, ‘Stop, we’re downloading information from the internet.’”
Tucker is full of hot air.
He really drives a car with no radio abs no ac?
My grandfather did that years ago because he was cheap. However, that being a million years ago, eventually he could not get a car without a radio.
Grandpop was way ahead of his time. Also insisted on blackwall tires. Had lived through the depression.
As for Tucker, he’s a loon and dumb if he didn’t know something on his car would update with an Internet connection.
Does he now drive a bicycle?
If the software messages were written properly, downloading meant he was receiving information. Uploading would have meant sending information. Downloading could have been anything from a bug fix to new GPS maps.
I drive a 78 Chevy Van. No chips and also EMP proof...
I will never drive a newer spy car... As far as I am concerned it is absolutely stupid to embrace this new Auto technology. I am a master tech and I have seen just driving by microwave towers shut cars off...
I bought my wife a new Lexus RX 350. All of the electronic gadgets are very annoying as far as I’m concerned. I’m keeping my 04 F-150 as my daily driver for the foreseeable future.
Lol.. Just because a car/truck has a computer does not mean that it is connected to the internet in any fashion, uness you have a subscription to GPS updates or a cellular subscription...
“He really drives a car with no radio abs no ac?”
Are we spoiled pampered wimps? The less there is the less that can break.
Swap the alternator for a generator!
“Tucker last year bought his 1987 Chevy Silverado and revealed the car’s lack of technology was a prime appealing factor to him:”
Maybe in Maine but I bet his Florida cars have AC.
LOL! You guyz are great! LOVE Free Republic!!
That's it. That's exactly it. I've been hanging onto my 1997 Toyota for that very reason. I control it, it doesn't control me.

The cell connection is live on newer cars without a subscription.
Mine is a 2019 and via the free app I can view car info, diagnostics and location.
“He really drives a car with no radio abs no ac?”
We always did. Well we had a radio
