If the president declares no classified information was communicated over Signal, is anything still secret? The reporter did a fantastic job reporting the facts while concealing things which may have been secret, then was called a liar, it was described as something that never happened, so transcripts were released.

Our team tried to pretend they're liberals - using non-authorized forms of communication, deleting the records of those conversations (directly, with a 7 day destruct, and a 28 day destruct, as set by the Signal individual participants), blaming the whistleblower, declaring it never happened, and when it's proved it happened, then saying it was of no importance.

Is this the future this administration wishes to put forward? Pretend to be liberals? I sure hope not. An error was made, own up to it, put in policies to prevent it from happening again, use authorized forms of communication for government business and preserve the record for the job the American people are paying them to do.

This is silly that we're trying to dance around and pretend this wasn't a total mistake. That the handling of it wasn't done extremely poorly, and probably the first real stumble of an administration that hasn't even reached the 90 day mark. Even worse is having administration officials on the record openly lying.

It's undercutting credibility while the administration is in open lawfare with the judiciary - more unelected federal officials trying to wrest control from the elected leaders.

It is time to explode this whole "classified info" thing. General and Flag Officers and commanding officers have a lot of discretion in adopting classification and handling rules to the realities of the tactical situation on the ground. And that goes double for the national security principles. Second a lot information is classified for OPSEC reasons and once that part of the OP has concluced it is automatically declassified [a fact written into the rules of classification and declassification marking]. For instance drop a bomb on x tomorrow could the Secret or even TS today, but it is unclas tomorrow once the bomb is dropped because it is now public knowledge.

And any general or admiral commanding an operation can get on an uncleared communication channel and start directing evolutions during the conduct of a battle. Speed of communications, tactical flexibilty maintenance of the obhective, and unity of command often oughtweigh strict communcations security in the heat of battle. And you know who gets to decide - not lillliputians from the deep administrative state, but the commanders in charge of the operation.

You are absolutely correct in your assessment. Any thinking and knowledgeable person can see this.

That’s why it’s so disappointing to see so many Freepers viciously attack anyone who points out the Emperor has no clothes...not Trump per se, but so many on the NS staff.

But prepare yourself for a high volume of emotional vitriol for saying it.
