Frankly, I don’t like that argument. But point taken.
I prefer to focus on the increased economic activity whenever taxes/fees/tariffs are reduced, meaning profits at home, higher international investment in the US and, consequently, higher revenues across the board due to an immensely stronger economy...
...all due to negotiation for good policies, rather than the bad ‘giveaway’ policies of the past, in part originating with Nixon himself.
We - nay, the correct word is “THEY” - gave away TRILLIONS in exchange for a few pennies in profit in comparison. The damage would take another 100 years to repair even IF the country was united. Thus, the stakes are quite high, hence my biting critique.
Patriots don’t take jobs away from Americans - earned greatly by the Greatest Generation’s blood, sweat & tears - to enrich other countries, some of which are our enemies.
The proper label for “they/them” - and their supporters, both of influence and idiotic consequence - is TRAITORS, and now “THEY” fleece the treasury pursuant to collapse (and are fighting back hard).
If THAT doesn’t convert a ‘free trader’...well, I better bite my lip.

I don’t deny it; I just prefer to acknowledge all of the corollary benefits which are an order of magnitude more valuable than a mere tariff receipt and are, in fact, immeasurable.
