None of my classes came with a bouncer. The teacher was the ultimate authority until the principal or a vice principal showed up. We didn’t have security back in the dark ages when I went to school.

I saw people wearing jackets; someone could’ve at least covered the student up.

Yes, but none of my classes came with vicious thugs. And the students respected the teacher's "ultimate authority."

If modern students (i.e., vicious thugs) don't respect a teacher's authority, you can't expect the teacher to turn into Rambo. It's not who they are. It's not what they signed up for.

When I was in grade school and high school, many of the male teachers were WWII and/or Korean War veterans. They would also have had the backing of the school administration if they ever had to get physical with student thugs.

Curiously enough, incidents like this were practically unheard-of.
