I think the Houthis have on quite a number of occasions attacked US Naval ships.
Plus they have interfered with international shipping.
Someone had to stop them, especially if no American sailors are hurt doing so.
The attacks on the Houthis are de facto proxy actions against the Iranians and there is a decent chance that the Houthi strikes may bring the Iranians to the negotiating table to dismantle their nuclear program and avoid a US strike on Iran.
If it works and Iran comes to the table the Houthi strikes will be more than worth it. if we actually have to do a strike on Iran, the destruction of the Houthi missile infrastructure will limit the ability for Iran and the Houthis to retaliate and disrupt the region.
