At least six people are believed to be dead and another nine injured — six critically — after a tourist submarine sank off of Egypt’s Red Sea coast Thursday.
Twenty-nine of the roughly 40 passengers onboard were rescued, with those injured taken to local hospitals according to the BBC.
The submarine, “The Sinbad,” foundered close to the harbor in the city of Hurghada, a popular tourist destination on the Red Sea known for its beaches.
The vessel can descend 82 feet deep in the sea and offers stunning views of the coral reefs and marine life, according to the website for Sinbad Submarines.
The sub has been in operation for several years, with the company boasting itself for owning two of just “14 recreational submarines” in the world.

Comedian Sebastian Maniscalco says he doesn’t participate in anything that requires a safety briefing prior to the activity.....I tend to agree with that. 😏
Well, at least in the U.S. I’m sure there is some level of regulation and oversight.......one would hope anyway.
Amen brother. USS Greenfish SS 351 Qual date 1972.
Oh, it can go all the way to the bottom.
How does a submarine sink????
Normally, a submarine submerges by flooding water tanks in order to become heavy enough to dive. Those tanks can be purged of water in order to surface. People are inside a “pressure hull” that is filled with air at a pressure conducive to life. If that pressure hull ruptures for any reason it will violently fill with water, the sub sinks “for real”.
I use to go on canoe trips way back when. My dad carried duct tape and epoxy incase one of our canoes sprung a leak...
They sink catastrophically when that inner "people chamber" floods with water.
At Disneyland as a kid I thought we really were deep under water.
Abd those birds in the Tiki-Tiki room could talk. 😀
Twice a year or more we’d go there. Ticket days. A-E tickets. Everyone in the neighborhood had drawers of them. So anyone that was going got a lot of others leftover tickets.
Took my wife on our honeymoon. She was 20 and I was 26.
As an adult you notice all the electrical cords, etc.
Personal service is quite a different issue from correct maintenance in any event.
