"Fridge ice maker broke. Got a fridge and it also broke. Bought some ice trays and then a counter top ice maker. Freezer was smaller so we bought a 3.5 cubic foot freezer. Big enough for us and we now buy in more bulk."

I've never had a fridge with an ice maker, or water dispenser. I don't use ice cubes anyway, and buy bottled water. My freezer never seems to have enough space. It's always full. Would like a compact freezer to buy extra stuff, but don't even have any place to put one.

I live on the third floor, and take my laundry to the laundromat. It's easier for me to take my laundry bags to the car over a period of a week, and then bring the clean stuff up the same way, instead of running up and down the stairs to the basement to check on the stuff. It only takes me an hour and a half to do it at the laundromat. In our building, there are two washers and there are two dryers stacked one on top of the other. Both dryers are vented through the same hole, which is another reason I won't use them, because it takes forever to dry your clothes. It's just easier to go to the laundromat.

Grandmas avacodo GE fridge from the 60s is still humming along in my Uncles garage.. he jokes half his electric bill is probably from that fridge alone, but he also says the beer tastes better...

I go over from time to time for more samples.. can’t say I can tell the difference yet.. maybe I need more samples?

I don’t trust the back up cameras or on the wife’s Volvo, front, rear and 360 degree cameras. She said she liked them. I said if you need cameras to drive you shouldn’t be driving.

Windshield and mirrors works for me.

My wife has a pump. The data it sends the doctor (she says) is great. I said “who else is getting that data?” what do you mean she asks..

is the manufactuer? are they forwarding it to your insurance company to make sure you are using it correctly and keeping your numbers in line? do you think that data is used in setting our primium?

The freezer we bought is very compact. About the size of a small college dorm room fridge. About 30 inches tall. It’s in the master bedroom.

I’m hoping the same for automobiles.

I don’t get out much. Washers and dryers and dishwashers are connected to the cloud? Why? What is the benefit of that?

None to us but to the powers that be who want to control us.......

I got one of the last non-digital Speed Queens before they switched.

we had a samsung that stopped working one day.. we called the repair guy (still under warranty) who asked “does the ice maker work?” I laughed and said no, it’s above freezing in the thing, it’s not making ice. he said “no before it quit, was it making ice?”I don’t know. we never use the ice he replies “the ice maker has to work or it won’t cool..

sure as hell, the icemaker was broken. They replaced that and it started working again. We got rid of it before the warranty was up. It’s like a GM car (I don’t know if they still do this but in the mid-late 2000s they did) with the check engine light on. It disables the remote start. They do this to make it anoying so you bring it in for repairs.

I brought that POS samsung in for recycling.

On eBay, look for the thick factory “shop” manual for your cars. Some modern cars don’t even have dipsticks to check ythe oil level.

I got the speed queen 500 washer ... it’ll wash a full load of cloths - with plenty of water - in about 27 minutes. I felt I had gone back in time and found an appliance I didn’t hate.

What a great feeling... Clothes rinsed with enough water no one was wearing a load of detergent... I could open the top and add something I forgot and could see the water covering my clothes.

And yeah, it took months to find and a few months to get it delivered and it was worth it I would like to ask these companies just who they’re designing appliances for - because it sure isn’t their customers.

Yes... we have a Samsung refrigerator. The icemaker is horrible and needs constant maintenance.

There may be a future consumer backlash for ‘dumb’ appliances.

Vehicles as well. The benefits are utterly trivial in comparison with the risks and headaches and time wasted.

"It’s in the master bedroom."

That's not an option here. I've got two bookcases, a table that holds the TV, a huge chest of drawers and my night table. I have a walk-in closet on the wall the chest of drawers is. The furnace/AC and cold air duct is in the closet, and no electrical outlets in there. I think these apartments were built in the 50's after the war. They put new windows in not long after I moved in, and new siding on the buildings. They replaced the boiler in the basement with two water heaters. It takes even longer to get the hot water up here now. I've stayed here all these years because my rent is still very cheap. I pay for my own gas heat and electricity.

That's just nuts. I had a Samsung Projection TV and had nothing but problems with it, and a Samsung sound system that crapped the bed. I had insurance on the sound system, and got reimbursed, but not on the TV. I'd never buy another Samsung product in my life.

My Series 70 Kenmore washer and dryer are running strong, much to my wife’s dismay. And to her further dismay, I can easily repair them.
