A cartel possibly leaving dead bodies in a pickup truck in the vicinity does not sound like a great place to hike.

I was stationed with the USAF in Sacramento for two years around 1976 with my wife accompanying.   We went to Sutter's Mill, Yosemite, Napa, Grass Valley, Reno, Carson City and Tahoe.   We never thought about hiking in the wilderness.

I would rather be around the brown bears on the East Coast.   They are more polite.

The grizzlies were killed off in the Santa Cruz mountains in the 19th century.
