It was an unwinnable and unjust war.
The only course of actions against your government, when it has entered an unjust and unwinnable war, would be to kill the officers or flee the country. The other alternative is to throw down your weapons and put up your hands and walk to the other side.

Probably no armed force in modern times has ever lost 95% dead, much less across the entire military capable population.

As for Ukraine population drop, many are redugees and some will return.

Ukraine is expected to drop to 30 million by 2050. It was at nearly 52 million people back in 1991 just before the collapse of USSR.

The country of Ukraine was invaded, and that country has survived the invasion by fighting. This is reality no matter how many acronyms and name calling you throw around.
A country is attacked. They fight back. They conscript They get foreign help.

The *real* parallel to what we’re seeing is the “Volkssturm” where late-war Germany whipped up a similar idea of fighting to the end for your country and similarly grabbed the just-fighting-age Hitler Youth and leftovers from WW1 veterans, armed them barely, and sent them forth to suffer 70-80% casualty rates.
The other hideous aspect of this is that for such conscripted units to fight at all (or even remain in place to be blown up) there has to be a better-armed cadre of soldiers ready to kill *them* if they retreat (see Soviet NKVD).
The strident and insulting tone seals the deal, but otherwise I would only presume you’re merely ignorant of history.
I just showed you the demographics, of Ukraine, in 2023 for a deep dent in the population of those of military age and it’s been two years since, so it is even more dented. You deny the evidence before your eyes because Russkies are being killed.
To you, the death spiral of the Ukraine does not matter to you, as long as Russkies are killed. Even if this means that Ukrainians age out and die out after the war.
That is reprehensible. It was never a winnable war and Putin could have been talked to before the war to limit his mandate in what he wanted. But no, killing Russkies was more important to you.

The Z-bots have assured me that Ukraine is wiiiiinnnnnniiiiing, from victory to victory, advancing on all fronts, ghost of kiev etc and that to truthfully point out the obvious makes you a Putin supporter.
I’m sure Ukraine has suffered devastating losses, refugees and destruction. Who said they didn’t.
I was in Japan. The traditional wooden structures sprinkled around are because we destroyed everything else. Today they are a modern affluent society. Same for Germany. Same for much of Russia and Eastern Europe. Same for Hiroshima.
Just reality.
Who wants to be the last man to die for an unending useless war that makes politicians richer than they already are, just like the useless proxy wars we fought against Russia and China, in the Korean War, and Vietnam? Zelensky is within the draft age, and he’s no longer President of Ukraine because his use-by shelf date expired on May 20, 2024, so why isn’t he being drafted? It’s not like he does anything substantial, other than flying around the world begging for money.
