Yes. And coming from a large family usually one kid got it and then the others would follow shortly. And in an unrelated note, a peanut allergy was unheard of back then. Something is changing.

Yup, but in those days I also remember that parents were warned to not give kids too young peanuts because there were kids who choked to death on peanuts but you don't now.

I wonder if anaphylaxis was misdiagnosed as choking to death on a peanut.

You have to recognize a condition to attribute death to it and it's certainly possible kids died from it and people didn't know why.
