He got the 60 minutes gig after the assassination.
He was LBJ's most trusted "wet operations" guy. He killed one man in broad daylight, in front of witnesses. LBJ spent the trial in a nearby hotel, coordinating matters. When the trial ended, Mac Wallace was found guilty of "murder with mallace." The judge sentenced him to five years in prison, and then immediately suspended the sentence.
He's believed to be behind a string of murders, each of which had the property that the removal of the dead person from the condition of being alive helped LBJ in some important way.
It is believed that his fingerprint and palm print were present in the Texas School Book Depository "sniper's nest."

At the "sniper's nest" in the Texas School Book Depository, the FBI had one print that they supposedly could not identify. In recent years, that print was matched to Mac Wallace. Wallace is also believed to have killed Henry Marshall, the US Department of Agriculture Investigator who got the goods on LBJ's criminal participation in the Billie Sol Estes case.
