I barfed every time my coach put me on any race over 200. I kept telling him I was a sprinter, not distance runner. Anything over 175, and I was past empty. Jerk didn’t like me, so he also made sure I was on 400m and Mile relayYou couldn't have simply "taken it easy," and run at a comfortable speed? Show some backbone!

Lol.. by choice, I also ran the (9 mile) cross country during off season football to keep me in shape.
Last every time, and I was barfing up for the whole team when I would finally pass the finish line.

"This will kill the Olympics as well."
They killed the Olympics when they started taking real sports (interesting, worth watching) out.
Pretty much the only things I even watch anymore, would be admiring the women ice skaters and the Japanese Women's Volleyball team

Not at my high school. They made a movie about it. (Friday Night Lights)Sorry, but I'm not about to watch a whole movie just to understand your reasoning.
If your coach had the power and authority to force you to participate in competitions for which you were unsuited and/or which resulted in medical distress (vomiting and/or getting the "dry heaves" after a 400-meter run would fall under that description), why couldn't you have at least "taken it easy" and spared yourself?
Simply run at 97% of your top speed -> no nausea.
Which reminds me: Ever watch an excellent movie entitled The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner? I highly recommend it. Here's the IMDB synopsis:
A rebellious youth, sentenced to a boy's reformatory for robbing a bakery, rises through the ranks of the institution through his prowess as a long distance runner. During his solitary runs, reveries of his life and times before his incarceration lead him to re-evaluate his privileged status as the Governor's prize runner.

Track wasn't half as strict as football, coming from Texas.
(Our high school stadium was (is) built to seat 20,000 fans, for high school games... (Ratliff Stadium). Our small city population (Odessa, Texas), at the time was about 85,000.)
(no worries gals, just pinging Texans for football 😉) Here is the cover:

Yes, yes: I have heard about this field game called "football." I'm sure that it's fun to watch for a few innings. But would you please reply to my question?
If you felt that your coach was unfairly forcing you to compete in races for which you were unsuited, and you were suffering significant discomfort and even medical problems (nausea, vomiting) as a result of that, why didn't you just run a little slower?

Where I am from, you don’t do a half-ass job. You always give it all you got. If my asshole coach were forcing me to compete in a discipline for which I was demonstrably unsuited, and if - to boot! - I were suffering medical problems as a result of that, I (as a Texan) would most certainly either refuse entirely (most honorable and consistent choice) or at least run at a speed which would not endanger my health.
QUESTION: How would you have reacted if it hadn't been you, but rather your little brother whom the coach had been abusing in this fashion?

Listen why don’t you just not post to me anymore?
I’d rather not have to deal with your negativity and your doubts.
So we’ll no doubt see you in the forum but I won’t post to you AND please don’t post to me anymore.
Great. Have a good evening though.

Are you one of those fire and brimstone - satan, satan, all gonna die, burn in hell yada yada Fred Phelps types too? People like that who also feel the need to advertise their religious beliefs make me nervous. It gets old quick and none of that attitude is found in Gal 5:22-23. At least mix it up for cryin out loud.

Yeah? I just realized that Mr. Ferris is the guy that told me "go feltch a camel" a few days ago. You think thats a characteristic of a "nice" person?
