Interest side point. The first time I went to Orlando sometime in the 90’s, they had 3 bus services, one run by the city and 2 others.

Within 5 years or so, they were back to one. I think the city took them over.

That’s been going on in New Jersey for decades. I remember a plethora of private bus companies running alongside NJ Transit, not just on the NYC commuter lines but also the local transit lines. Now NJT’s taken them all over; the last historic name to fall was DeCamp Bus Lines, with the COVID-1984 lockdowns and subsequent work-from-home as excuses for people not riding the buses (even though NJT is still running the routes).
