Thank you, rlmorel. I appreciate this.

Glad you are reading the Bible - so many lessons, esp in proverbs and psalms.

I decided to read it for the first time from front to back, somewhat against the advice from some, but I knew what they were driving at. I just felt I needed to do it that way once, and why not the first time reading it?

I have decided to go back when I am done and re-read proverbs and psalms.

Just began the New Testament, in Matthew. Boy. There is a lot in there that is difficult to wrap my arms around. Reading it makes me feel as if it were written directly at me, and is pretty uncomfortable.

I considered myself well-read, but...I had never read the Bible. Oh, I knew a lot just from osmosis, but it isn’t the same.

It has been amazing for me-I am looking at things quite differently, changing or solidifying views, and attempting to act in concert with the lessons it teaches.

One of the big things I noticed is that Human Nature has changed very little from the Garden of Eden until now. Same character flaws. Different technology, same bad behavior, centuries of human fallibility in the Old Testament.

Which makes me think we are in need of God now as much as we ever have.
