Exactly! How come when I first saw the movie when I was a toddler, I wished that I could go “hang” with Uncle Remus. The commie libs are the racists when it comes to Song of the South.
When I watched it, I thought how wonderful it would be to meet someone like that in person, and shake his or her hand.
I know the people who hate it assume (or know damn well he wasn’t, but want everyone else to assume) Uncle Remus was a slave, but it was set after the Civil War during Reconstruction.
I suspect they hate it because it shows a cheerful black man who loves people of any color, and they cannot have that. That goes against their template.
I have grown to despise those kinds of people who would take issue with a character like Uncle Remus.
