BYD on Monday unveiled a new platform for electric vehicles (EVs) that it said could charge EVs as quickly as it takes to pump gas,,,,. The so-called "super e-platform" will be capable of peak charging speeds of 1,000 kilowatts (kW)Keep in mind that EV batteries degrade with time, and thus require more frequent recharging. That is comparable to the gas tank in your ICE car getting smaller every time you fill it up.
Also the claimed 400-mile range is for fresh batteries, optimal driving conditions and speed, and no A/C or heating being used.
And where are these supposed 1 MEGAWATT recharging stations going to be located? In some local Walmart parking lot? Along the highway through the cornfield of Iowa? Or more likely, next to a nuclear reactor power plant?!?
Not by very much.
