Our county has strict fertilizer bans for landscape (lawns, ornamentals) during rainy June-Sept. Fruit trees and edible gardens are exempt.

I suspect Bill Gates has a devious hand in this too.

That’s mainly due to run off causing algae blooms. You must live somewhere near water or a seasonal tributary. It’s actually good land management.

There is generally an exemption for liquid fertilizer, which is cheaper, works better, and doesn’t run off. You can also easily combine chemicals (insecticide, pre emergent, fertilizer). But you need a tow behind applicator unless you are Arnold Swartzineger.
