I like the no-nonsenseness; but yeah, there could be some more ways to stop hijacking.
Some very simple programming could mitigate the security holes.
That is what makes it good.

Which is one of the things I love about it. It looks exactly like it did when I joined over twenty years ago.
But I think Laz has a very good point. Updating the log in security is certainly prudent, and it need not change the look and feel of the site.

I have been on several forums that had “dated tech” and chose to change platforms, supposedly aimed at improvement... but the changes made were worse (not an improvement) and the users were more unhappy with the updated tech version. There’s an old addage, “don’t fix it if it ain’t broke”.
I suspect that the mods here are well equipped to deal with any leftist, non-conservative, interlopers (trolls). Much ado about nada, IMHO.
As a desktop user, I disagree, except for the need for a edit feature. What forum and features would you point to as better?
