Potlatch studs are Jack Pine primarily. They might have a little Spruce or Balsam.
Their studs are not well thought of in the industry.
Spruce studs, White fir studs and Douglas Fir all sell for a premium to studs out of Potlatch.
Let me put it this way.
If its produced here in the USA. The builders will use it. Like it or not.
BTW. I can call Rob up at Sawyer lumber and see exactly how much spruce they use. I suspect in excess of 60%.

His reply was. “Of course he says that.” “Seaboard gets a good portion of its lumber from Eastern Canada so we are taking a lot of their business away.”
BTW. Says their sales reflect the quality of their lumber in the upper midwest.
