Members of their base saw that, and many, especially the “yutes”, realized that the Dems “compassion” was just a “dog and pony” show.

Even during the Reagan era, the Democrats maintained control of the House (which they did from 1954-1994). I'd say their image right now is much worse than it has ever been, and yet they are doubling down on their idiocy.
Regardless, their street drones are growing increasingly violent and it's going to get much worse.
