Nice try at deflection, but your ancestors have nothing to do with this situation. They aren’t promoting this war...you are.

Why aren’t you fighting on the UKE front lines?

The post to which I responded was asserting that me and mine had no experience of what was going on.

My wife's family had it far worse in both WWI and WWII.

This war is just, a people fighting for their homes and families.

I first thought Trump's comments were a clever gambit get the Russians involved in talks. But so far he's only putting pressure on the Ukrainians, and the Russians have responded to his peace overtures with more strikes on Ukrainian cities, so their intransigence is likely to grow.

Trump will be unable to force anything that looks like capitulation to Putin's demands. Even if the government agrees, the Ukrainian Army certainly won't, and the Europeans see the war as giving them breathing space to rearm, so they will assist the Ukrainians to keep fighting. So much for "peace."

I also understand the argument for just leaving Europe and NATO. But I would point out that despite overwhelming American opinion against joining the last two world wars, we got dragged in anyway. And the last time we were just very, very lucky that our carriers were not at Peral Harbor and that Heisenberg's reactor experiments were poorly conducted. Otherwise we would have lived through the world of The Man in the High Castle.
