“I am beginning to think these meteorologists get off on these severe weather predictions”

Maybe.
But this is a big one.
A strong low pressure system that will move in and spin up blizzards on one side and severe weather on the other side.
It’s good the weather people can see these systems when they are as far away as the Bering Sea.
I’m amazed they can see that and tell us we will have storms a week late in the Midwest.

Considering the damage done by tornadoes, they need to watch these things.

They don’t *get off* on severe weather and I doubt for a minute they are the ones naming the storms.

They need to forecast what they think if likely to happen, and yet warn about the worst potential outcome, just in case.

If the meteorologists knew it and didn’t warn about it, they’d be castigated for not letting people know.

They’re damned if they do and damned if they don’t.

Basically what’s going on with people who say they don’t buy into the fear porn or care what happens, and yet they feel the need to stroke their own egos with mockery and derision directed towards those they have contempt for who are interested in knowing what’s forecast.

All the critics of how weather forecasting is done are free to go get a meteorology degree and show everyone how to do it better.
