I found that running CCleaner apparently shuts down Edge, because CC shuts down all web browsers when cleaning. But if I shut the laptop lid for a while, then open it ten or so minutes later, Edge greets me again.

Just run CCleaner every time you re-open your computer. That's what I do. And yeah, it's annoying.

I've found that I have to use CCleaner several times during a session.

CCleaner shuts down Edge when I first open the computer.

But if I run CCleaner later ... sometimes it doesn't shut down Edge again, but sometimes it does. Which means that Edge had resurrected itself, running in the background without letting me know.
