They probably thought that this was clever and funny. Trying to lighten up from how they are perceived after that spectacle at the joint address.
Another major fail!
What should give us pause is the thought that there are many voters with whom this message would work. The inspiration for it did not come from nowhere, and the women in the ad know exactly to whom they are pitching it. While such a level of immaturity may be inconceivable to many here, they are correct in believing that it exists in the electorate, and in numbers larger than we might believe.
