I use Quicken and have it connected to all of our checking, savings, line of credit, and credit card accounts. All the at a flows into one hub. I’ve created a lot of categories to fit our spending. It is really good to see all the income and outgo in one place. The reporting is really good, too.

I’ve been using it in retirement to make sure we are keeping our spending under control. I wish I had started using it years ago when I was working.

I’m a long time Quicken user. It has gotten worse over time. It is particularly bad at categorizing transactions. It is also bad at connecting with external accounts. Accounts require too much manual intervention and editing. The reports are incoherent. The only use it has for me is as a historical database for transactions.

We used Quicken a long time ago when we lived paycheck to paycheck. Once the kids were grown up, and moved out on their own, we discovered that our savings account grew faster. Not sure why, but we stopped using Quicken.

Then a few months ago, hubby got back into Quicken. We love it. He hopes to retire next year, and this is helping us make sure we stay on budget.
