Texas has "uniform election dates" for special elections.

The special election will be held on the first Saturday in May in an odd-numbered year. This would put the special election on May 3.

This is a solidly Democratic seat. It has been a “black” seat mostly within the Houston city limits. Former representatives include Barbara Jordan, Mickey Leland, Craig Washington, and Sheila Jackson Lee. No chance it will be a Republican gain.

There’s Ken Paxton, Dan Patrick, the Congressman from the panhandle whose name I forget, and Cruz that are more-or-less MAGA.

Almost everyone else is a Bushie, to varying degrees.

Cornyn is the worst “Republican” Senator, too chicken to be a Murkowski or Collins. But 100% like them.
