Good points. My problem against the no taxes on tips, and maybe overtime, is the 14th amendment’s equal treatment clause. For example, if two workers make the same amount of income, but one of those workers’ income half comes from tips, then the workers won’t be taxed equally. It’s the same problem I have with progressive tax rates.

Unless we use a flat tax or fair tax, there will always be the people who don’t pay taxes falling for the political charlatans vowing to raise taxes on the other people. This idea of no taxes on tips seems to be a new wedge that can divide us further.
