There are people who buy mice bred for certain colors, etc to keep as pets-I’ll bet a lot of money can be made by pet stores, selling these woolly mice-they look like tiny guinea pigs, and are actually super cute for a rodent-but I think my cats would still see them as a prey item, never mind the cute...
