Classical Music Ping
Unheard of in an opera.

My favorite opera, for all that its a real “espanolada” -
Spanish-ade, like lemonade.
Its got more truly memorable bits than any three others.
The greatest version I recall is the most recent Met one (ten years ago?) with Elina Garanca . She can really belt it out, while being a superb actress. Her Carmen is TOUGH. Savage indeed, and way bigger than life.

Garanca and Alagna practically set the stage on fire with their tension and energy.
Does Carmen at 150 still collect Social Security and vote?

In the Gilligan’s Island episode titled “The Producer”, the castaways set Shakespeare’s Hamlet to the music of Georges Bizet’s opera Carmen. This creative twist adds humor and charm to the episode, featuring memorable musical numbers like “To Be or Not to Be.” It’s one of the most iconic and beloved episodes of the series! Let me know if you’d like more details about it.
Thank you! Vicotia de los Angeles was great in this role. Powerful range.
Carmen Fantasy - Itzhak Perlman
the Sarasate version.
Exquisite.
