The authority to investigate corrupt politicians belongs to the Attorney General, not the Defense Secretary.

The only reason the Defense Secretary would have this responsibility would be if the country were under martial law, and military tribunals had replaced the civilian courts.

Big thumb up here: Note that the story says “authority to investigate.” No more than that. I fer durn sure expect the SecDef to investigate any of the hunnert or so things I can think of that might involve a congress critter involving hisself with the DOD. Just to pick one let’s say a congersperson seems to be getting kickbacks from a defense contract. Maybe a new boat in the yard right after a new contract in his district.? I fully expect Pete to take a look at the books on that. But Pammy would do the “clean-up”.

While Rickover was clean as a whistle he wasn’t above suggesting a contractor send a nice set of earrings to a congress wife. And with Rickover gone we’re now paying a billion$ for submarines that used to cost 50 million$. There’s a lot of missing money out there someplace so Pete has plenty to work on?
