I've even done it when explaining that we can't do it. (e.g., copied a 'forensic matter smeared post' in my reply). 

Perhaps it's like the ring driven through the ear of pirate worn to show he 'earned' it by crossing the equator? (I forget whether it's the right ear or the left, and it matters)

I wasn't thinking of you or anyone in particular. I just have been noticing the number of 'pot holes' in the thread (empty craters where posts were pulled up and thrown away). I slow down, pass by, wondering 'wut did I miss?'  cause I  like posts dipped in Q sauce, so the more we can conserve, the better.
