I loved him in Superman!
Those of us who grew up on the comic books did not like how the writer (Mario Puzo) and director had Hackman portray Luthor.
Awful.

Completely disagree. I loved the comics and Hackman as Luthor. He gave the character a personality, something he never had in the comics. What’s wrong with a megalomaniac who has a dry sense of humor?

It was fun. Comic book like. Bed Beatty was hilarious. Can’t go wrong with what’s her name.
I liked how he played it straight and smart and switch to comedy.
But I was young.
