The category is Rock.
Not all the crap genres you just posted.
Yeah, but ya gotta love Motown. If you don't, you don't have an ounce of soul in your heart. I was always amazed that Motown was so successful in the 60's. I used to confuse my cruising buddies in my car when I'd switch from some lame Brit band over to the RnB channel. Yet, I was the biggest fan of the Stones. BTW, The Wrecking Crew played on alot of Motown, as they did for the earlier Girl groups.
There's an excellent documentary about TWC on a premium cable channel.
I did not know that.
I have more ‘Kraftwerk’ and ‘Dead Kennedy’s’ in my veins than any Motown group
Fair enough.
I asked myself the same thing. The Eagles were pretty mellow, though. So were the Beatles (most of the time), but they are still going to win any fan poll.
Longevity also counts for a lot on a list like this. A band that came along in the 90s won't make the list. Neither would The Doors, whose time with Jim Morrison barely outlasted the 60s.
Should The Who be on the list? I don't like them, but their music is very well known and sold well.
“I played in a “garage rock band” from 63 to 69”
I’ve been in bands since I was 13 in 1966 . Played semi-professionally in Tokyo from 1986-1995 . After moving from Tokyo to my wife’s hometown in southern Japan played in a variety of bands. Now just play drums along with records and CDs in my humble 2nd floor music space . Mostly jazz nowadays .
I went to country while in the military. I just poke around these days.
Are all those no. 1 hits by the Beatles Rock songs?
The stole The Supremes for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, so what now?
I distinguish “ rock “ from “ rock and roll “ . Too many genres in the “ rock “ category . To me “rock and roll “ pretty much ended with the British invasion . After that “rock “ and its sub genres began .
Nah-— dey was Canadians— remember. Please “no hand me down love”.... heh.
Excellent choices way better than the tutti fruiti anglo wanks.
Thank you, I try to be inclusive.
Late response- ABB were great no matter
