When’s the last time you heard a Beatles song? The Stones are on every Juke Box or classic rock station every day, almost every hour.

"You do know that Lennon and McCartney wrote the Stones first British hit, “I Wanna Be Your Man”, right?"

Yes, I do. So what? It didn't compare to their later world-wide hits.

Perhaps another metric would be which rock bands changed lives the most.
Mylon Lefevre and Broken Heart experienced over 200K kids come to Christ.

Agree!

Twenty years from now, nobody is going to even care about the likes of Drake or Taylor Swift, but they will be listening to The Beatles a hundred years from now.

This is the truth

Same here. I played in a “garage rock band” from 63 to 69. I never learned about the Wrecking Crew until a couple years ago. Picked up a really great Wrecking Crew documentary DVD on Amazon. To a former rock musician, that DVD is priceless.

My favorite band is RUSH - and in some metrics might be ranked as one of the “best” (whatever that means).

Here they are doing a cover of “Crossroads” using Cream’s version as their baseline. They did an entire album of cover songs of some of their boyhood idols and favorite songs growing up that influenced them.

In their early years they would play covers at concerts because they didn’t have enough of their own songs. From the Who and even the Beatles! (”Bad Boy”)

My local classic rock station are mostly gone or don’t play the mix I like.... Yeah I know that you can listen to any decade you like over the internet. Me and my friends were always Stones not Beetles. I really like 25 or so Stones tunes and sorta like 2-3 by Beetles. Who, lets face it, were a (bloody) bore. We liked Animals Yardbirds Cream. Even John Mayall.

Lennon treated his first wife and child badly. Julian Lennon, his son by Lennon’s first wife Cynthia had to file a lawsuit to the estate for some inheritance after Lennon died... the bulk of which went to Yoko and her child (shawn). Lennon abandoned his 1st wife and child in the public eye, and it would probably not be too far of a stretch to say that Johnny was possibly (allegedly) a wife beater, he was definitely verbally abusive. I think Johnny boy is a total a-hole... always have.

I call Keith Richards the riff mmaster. He isn’t the greatest guitar player in the world but the Stones music overflows with great riffs and hooks. I’ve seen video of Keith playing the piano and he’s really good at that too, amazingly.

Keith also played bass on a lot of the Stones songs, instead of Bill Wyman.
