Queen? Queen? All credibility lost right there at #3.
No way in heck they should be in the top 10.
Radio stations playing that obnoxious Bohemian Disaster twice an hour, doesn’t mean they’re a great band. They suck.

The Beatles literally invented whole new genres of music.

My top three favorite groups are:
The Beach Boys
The Cars
Pink Floyd
Glad to see Floyd made the list. “Rock band” is pretty subjective, but I like all the bands they listed.

Yes.
And you can guess my age of 78 from my having seen them and all of the groups in my list in person.
Along with seeing the Beatles on tour. August 13, 1966 at Olympia in Detroit.

Some people don’t really consider “Prog Rock” as real rock. So bands like Pink Floyd, Genesis, King Crimson, ELP, Yes, etc. don’t get mentioned.

My biggest regret is never having seen Zappa live.

Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band deserve a mention. Seger, in his prime, had the best voice in R&R.
Bob always gets overshadowed by the leftist hack Springsteen who is not anywhere as talented as Seger.

Absolutely on Petty. Heartbreakers are my all time favorite with Chili Peppers next.
Greatest American rock rock band has to be Aerosmith if you go by my previously mentioned criteria. Petty and the Breakers could have been number 1 but they were blackballed by the radio industry years ago after they came out with The Last DJ. TP had legit top 10 songs on several albums from that time on but they would not play his new stuff on the radidio. Still pisses me off I didn’t see him with Joe Walsh on that last tour.

All of these Rock lists are so Subjective. So many great bands never considered.
To: Clutch Martin
A lot of the folks who made up those great bands from the 70s and 80s, decided to pursue being rock stars because of The Beatles. How many bands essentially were launched the night The Beatles played on The Ed Sullivan Show?

Sorry for you.
He ran a highly disciplined group, obviously well rehearsed, with fine musicians and singers.
