I was in a “landing” like that. Expecting a touchdown, but then hear those engines roar, up she goes.
I figured something like this had happened. No sense of fear, though, because whatever *it* was, *it* was down there and we were up here. Well all riighty then..
Turned out it was wacky wind. The pilot realized that the plane was about to be smashed into the pavement so how about no.
He kept apologizing to everyone as we departed the cabin.

I had a similar experience landing in Ohaire Airport. We changed from a landing approach to a rapid vertical climb. All the power went out at the airport and there was no Air Traffic Control or any runway lights. The pilot decided the safest place to go was straight up.
We had to divert to a different airport. They apologized for the inconvenience. We were just glad to be alive.
