I need think about this more. We have digital IDs, we have biometric verification already. Not sure what is actually new that Trump is promoting.

Is it a universal biometric verified ID? If so, there are a lot of good reasons to do this.... also a lot of bad if misused.

I think the heart of the question is; do we have a right to anonymity?

Courts have upheld SSNs, fingerprint ID on passports, etc... I don't think the courts have universally compelled citizens to participate in these however. Devil is in the details.

My only hope is that the goal is to make this technology public and open rather than centralized, secret and govt.

It can be used for good or evil, we cannot escape it. Although I am glad I am old and will escape a lot of it.

An armed society is a civilized society. If we are all armed with information it can work.

It is the 2nd amendment in a different form.

Non-digital systems have been misused so why would you think there was a possibility of digital not being misused?
