I’d say most of them. NATO is a big deal in Europe because that’s where most of the money is spent. In the US, not so much. Even back in Cold War days it was common to hear people complaining about the number of troops we had stationed in Germany. Most Americans don’t see how NATO affects their lives.
I think you are completely wrong. Even during the “no first use” protest days of Reagan, NATO still had deep bipartisan support.
