On a related note, from the Times of Israel; Jewish Florida man (Mordechai Brafman) arrested after shooting two Israelis he thought were Palestinians. (He tried to kill them and reported to police that he had killed them, although they survived).

Then of course, when Mossad gets the wrong man... Mossad agents killed Moroccan waiter Ahmed Bouchiki in Lillehammer, Norway, believing he was Ali Hassan Salameh. The mistaken assassination becomes known as the Lillehammer Affair.
