From my seat at Super Bowl LIX, the crowd’s disparate reactions to Swift and Trump felt like a chilling microcosm of our culture.
…It was just a football game, people might say. Or Swift—who is famously dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce—got heckled by some rowdy Eagles fans excited to be at the biggest sporting event of the year. So? Don’t take it so seriously.
…Perhaps the moment would have felt less visceral if not for the fact that less than an hour earlier the crowd had exploded—this time with applause—to see Trump on that same screen. As an image of the president, stonefaced and standing in a salute, was shown to the crowd during Jon Batiste’s national anthem performance, the roar of approval and cheers was deafening (of course, there were those in the crowd who booed the president and cheered for Swift as well, but from my vantage point, it was clear what the overall sentiment was).
…It’s important to place these two moments in the context in which they exist. Though there are nuances to both, Trump and Swift exemplify two factions of American culture currently struggling for dominance.
…In an era when Trump is singlehandedly dismantling decades of diversity, equity, and inclusion that generations of women, people of color, and LGBTQ+ people have fought for, the Super Bowl felt like a microcosm of a larger problem. Not only does it feel as though Trump and his ilk want Swift out of football, it’s as if they want to return our entire country to a time when they were in control, had all the power, and could say whatever they wanted without repercussions.
And if it seems scary online, it’s even more chilling when you’re forced to confront it face to face.

My guess is that more whores than women read this rag.
Spot on.
Let me add, as an old guy who really doesn’t follow the demographic, the last 2 Super Bowls before the Eagles win, every damn time Kelce caught a friggin pass, the cameras would cut away to Swift. Like 30-40 times a game. I think this added to the boos.
They lost by a landslide, own it.
“2. Coverage of her is reaching the over saturation point.”
I agree. She jumped the shark a long time ago, thanks to the media putting her mug on screen at every turn! LOL
That’s a shame.
Glamor “playing the victim” on behalf of a female billionaire. The booing might have surprised Ms. Swift... a little. But I doubt she lost any sleep over it.
4. Eagles fans would boo and heckle the Easter bunny.
Chilling??? Try heart warming. Swiffer getting paid to endorse Camela and Mr. Swiffer taking money to encourage us to get vaxxed both got what they had coming to them. I just hope they don’t have any children. One generation of these propagandists is enough
.
T Swift is over exposed. The KC Chiefs were over exposed.
I have been a Patriots fan since the early 1970’s. The Tom Brady era was like football heaven to us. We couldn’t understand why the rest of the country couldn’t see what a gift to humanity he was. It seemed like people did not like him because he was so “terrific.”
Now I understand.
Everyone is sick of Siwfties and the Chiefs. And together…just yuck!
Heck, back when the Redskins had their summer camp in Carlisle, PA (west of Harrisburg) all you saw in that sliver of PA was 'Skins. York County was all Colts prior to 1985 or so.
Glamour, stopped reading there. Just a leftist man blaming rag in the vain of Vanity Fair. SPIT!
What “decades of diversity, equity, and inclusion”?
The DEI crap only started in the last six or so years.
In middle management at a Fortune 100 company, I was forced to attend multi-day, offsite seminars about how “the white man is evil and the source of all problems” as early as 2002, and ongoing thereafter. It wasn’t called DEI but that’s exactly what it was.
You left out that the demographics that have the money to spend $15K or more to go to the Super Bowl are not the same people who listen to Taylor Swift. Fourteen year old girls don;t typically attend the SB.
Although, some of those Dad’s in attendance may still be pissed off about the money that their wife paid to take their spoiled daughter to see TS last year.
I saw one lady here that bought tickets to Foxboro for the TS concert there for her and her teenage daughter. She was embarrassed how much she spent and would not tell us because we would have MOCKED her stupidity on spoiling her little brat.
Taylor’s shelf life is just about over, time to bring up the next shiny object.
OH MY GOD!!! Some people disagree with me! I feel like I have the vapors! Where’s my fainting couch?
I get so tired of Global Commercialism and Marxists getting together and destroying affinity groups. Men should be able to enjoy pursuits without women.
Taylor’s shelf life is just about over, time to bring up the next shiny object.
The new one is even worse. Sabrina Carpenter. Simulating sex on stage, filthy lyrics, etc.
True Dat.
Although, to go from selling out multi night stadiums and the biggest grossing concert tour ever she has a long way to go before she is playing the Holiday Inn Paducah.
She was a KC fan being booed by Eagles fans. Absolutely predictable.
“chilling”??? I find it refreshing.
