One year, the new HS math textbooks never arrived. Somehow the district never thought to use last year’s books so they used worksheets. What, math must have totally changed over the summer. Come to find out, the superintendent used that money to build his house along with construction materials and paint from the school.
In college, I had the key to the library attic and the cage. The cage held books that shouldn’t be let out to students such as the scandalous Joy of Sex. The attic had a copy of Playboy where the ugly liberal British Lit prof had posed. Why would the librarians buy such books if they weren’t allowed to be seen?

I must have slept the day we discussed the Starving Time of the winter of 1609-10 in Jamestowne, VA when the natives killed 2/3rds of the colonists.
I remember sitting in elementary school and one day a bunch of the penguins from the school and administration showed up and had a great ceremony in our class proclaiming how we were a test class and how New Math was going to be the greatest thing ever.
They kept us together mostly through middle school and I can’t speak for the other kids but it was a disaster for me.
