There was a man, sometime back, a very powerful man whose example is still felt very widely today, whose example was self-sacrifice, to the point of nails through hands. Some would say that His example, celebrated in art and thought, is what sets Western civilization apart. Some have said He was a sap. What do you think?

This was not directed at me, but let my nonetheless contribute my "2 cents."
If a man's goal is to redeem a Fallen Creation through the ultimate self-sacrifice, then he should be celebrated for allowing his crucifixion. Such a man would have to be virtually perfect.
If, however, he just wants to "get along" / avoid conflict in a sick, gynocentric society;
If he wants to live the best life possible in a society that is constantly telling him that he should become a "soy boy";
asking him what he "brings to the table," but simultaneously telling him that he should be first in line to a) offer his subway seat to a woman, b) intercede if some "crazy" starts threatening the other subway passengers, c) go to jail if the "crazy" is hurt;
sending him to die in wars to protect a nation that derides his masculinity as "toxic";
- then he would be best served by conserving his resources, not getting involved in the dating scene, and not allowing an obtrusive State to cosign any agreements he concludes with a female friend.
