The list of great jazz drummers from the “ golden age “ of jazz which I consider to be late 40’s through early 60’s would be quite extensive . Amongst my faves are Art Blakey , Philly Joe Jones , Shelly Manne , Tony Williams , Jimmy Cobb , and Billy Higgins .

Jazzbo’s float over the grid and put the notes down by feel. You don’t know where the notes go till he puts them there… then you start that nodding that you always see. It’s the nod of agreement. Almost all of the pop/rock of the fifties and sixties owes its vibe and feel to Jazz players who needed the dough.
