One of the greatest things about music is that it can be recorded and enjoyed at any time. This allows us to enjoy music made by people who are sadly no longer with us.
There have been countless outstanding drummers since the beginning of popular music history, many of whom have passed away. Their legacy lives on through their songs, albums, live performances, and of course, the stories about them.

LOL... Musicians can be a bit moody...Roach walked around the club and played rhythms on chairs, tables, etc. for about 10 minutes. It was amazing.
Playing Ludwigs in that video . Not many jazz guys played Ludwig . Gretsch was numero uno with them .
You were very fortunate to attend the performance of two of the great jazz and big band drummers. Wish I could have been there!

Jazzbo’s float over the grid and put the notes down by feel. You don’t know where the notes go till he puts them there… then you start that nodding that you always see. It’s the nod of agreement. Almost all of the pop/rock of the fifties and sixties owes its vibe and feel to Jazz players who needed the dough.
