What about VA benefits? I’d watch that space. One proposal is drop the VA benefits if they get retirement checks. Another is income max. They already drop you if you make 170K a year. What does that have to do with getting hurt in the military. Also new veterans will lose 30 percent of their social security beginning 2024 if they receive any amount.

You may not understand the details.

#1 There is an income limit for VA healthcare. It differs by dependent number. For single it is up around $65ishK.

#2 That income limit is eliminated if the veteran has a minimum of 10% (or more) service connected injury/disability.

#3 Veterans collecting a pension from military retirement do have their injury compensation reduced. This has always been so. It’s not a new proposal.

#4 I have heard no proposals to reduce VA injury benefit for Social Security. Might be out there. Odds near zero. Though the way that is worded . . . “new veterans” is not clear. I asked chatGPT and it says there is no connection between VA disability/injury benefits and SS. But, it noted something I did not think of. People on SSDI (Social Security Disability) cannot make outside income above $XXXXX. GPT notes that VA disability benefits are not counted within that $XXXXX.
